The Internet has come a long way since the days of only being able to access websites and socialize on AOL. Nowadays, there are social networks, online games, discussion forums, etc. The final element in your persona profiles is: Where do each of your personas hang out online?

Before we answer that, let’s take a look at the potential places that your personas could be hanging out that have a PPC platform integrated.

Facebook

Facebook is primarily used for keeping in touch with family and friends, getting news, following brands/influencers, finding out what events are happening near by and connecting with like minded people via Facebook Groups.

Linked In

I like to refer to it as “The Professional Version of Facebook” because well, that’s basically what it is. Linked In is mostly used for finding a job, hiring for an open position, general networking or growing a business. People use it to keep in touch with old co-workers and business contacts as well, rather than connecting with them on Facebook.

Pinterest

Pinterest is like Instagram with a method of organizing things that the users find that they like on “boards”.  Users can utilize Pinterest as an online organizer for ideas, find things to buy, find places to visit or check out their friend’s boards.

News/Special Interest Websites

News and Special Interest websites that have related content sections are where most people end up who have clicked on a link from a social network. Rather than relying on demographics, these websites sell the related content sections to content discovery platforms like OutBrain, Taboola and RevContent. These platforms place a cookie file on their website visitor’s browsers to learn about what they are interested in so that they can better serve them content in the related content section of their site. This content is paid for and can be a really great platform to use for your Top Funnel content.

Based on what each online hang out is primarily used for, their demographics and what other brands and influencers are popular on those platforms, you can pair up your personas with where they most likely hang out online.

Below you will find a button that links to Fischer SEM’s Persona worksheets that will guide you through the process of creating 3 to 5 personas for your business.
